NOTE: Tomorrow (7/29/09) I’ll be on Bliss Radio (Better Sex Radio with Chrystal Bougon) talking about masturbation, female ejaculation and the difference between porn sex and real sex . Just call in at 888-327-0061 at 2PM EST/11AM PST to go live on air with me and Chrystal!
Other things I’d really like to talk about are all in this week’s Sex News Square Down. Yes, it’s back..I haven’t forgotten, I’ve just gotten preoccupied.
In Japan, some men carry around pillows with pictures of young, Japanese anime girls and call it 2-D Love. Is it, for them, better than the real thing? (NY Times)
“Men become intimate to have sex. Women have sex to become intimate.” A look at Rosemary Basson’s new study on which comes first, arousal or desire? (Psychology Today)
A stressful relationship. Is the recession to blame? (Reuters)
File under OMGWTF. In a study released last week, Markus Jokela, a researcher at the University of Helsinki, found beautiful women had up to 16% more children than their plainer counterparts. Has survival of the species come to this? (Times Online)
Simply Blown is the new bad boy on the glass market. I really enjoyed talking to the artist, Scott S., but that’s not the part I recorded on camera (you can see him in the background though, wearing the black and white plaid shirt).
There’s a new line of hot, hard and HUGE realistic dildos (and some not so realistic, and not so huge, ones) on the market right now, and I like these a lot because of how well thought out they are. For starters, they come in larger realistic sizes, and they don’t droop like some other silicone cocks, which means they stand up, and out, like an erection, even when worn in a harness. And I love that they’re created by a woman who was once a retail sex educator who really thought about what was missing from planet dildo. Don’t get me wrong, I love Tantus and Vixen (two other fantastic silicone dildo companies) but I’m happy to welcome Vamp to the wide world of sex toys.
I love, love, love the design of Tenga’s toys for boys, and after interviewing the designer (he speaks very little English but is totally adorable) I will love Tenga long time. The egg is their newest product (the designer has a thing for the culinary), and it’s coming soon to a loveshack near you:
I decided to video blog a bit from the Adult Novelty Expo happening at Universal City in Los Angeles this week.
What I found most fascinating about the sex toy convention is that it takes place in the middle of one of the largest tourist attractions for tweens in all of Los Angeles (that would be Universal Studios). Overhead in the elevator yesterday, one little boy turns to his mother and says “mommy, why are there so many models here?” (he meant porn stars, but is there really a difference?)
Anyway, here’s my first video. Natural Contours has a new couples vibe coming out. It’s called Le Duet and I love that it’s made of hard plastic with a bendy middle.
There’s something in the smog in LA that’s making me video blog like mad, or at least like madder than I do in New York…So, here’s my first episode (and maybe my last?) of my new 30-seconds-to-one-minute advice video. It’s called “Put on Your Big Girl Panties & Deal With It!” or “Put Your Big Girl Panties On & Deal With It” (whatever) and this episode is about how to date who you want..or at least how to try to. It was inspired when I saw the sign:
I decided to get silly with a stiffy today. So meet Gordy, a boypal I’ve known for years in LA. Strange thing is, he never changes (and yes, I know having chewing gum in your mouth and talking is like so annoying. Please forgive me).
